Dog

Dog stopped by our house one evening and jumped into the car.  We tried to find her home, we knocked on doors, advertised and put up a sign, but no one ever claimed her.

We tried giving her a nice name, but she prefers "Dog".  When she hears that word, she looks up and preens as if it's the most beautiful name in the world,

Dog was very well trained when she first came to us, but was not able to follow voice commands.  Since it was very inconsistant, I thought maybe she didn't understand English.  Sure enough, she's a little Francophone.  She understands most things in French and perks her little ears up even from a dead sleep when she hears someone speaking French.  I have to admit, I put the French channel on just for her.

She's getting old now, nearly blind and doesn't like to go outside.  When I take her out to piddle, she refuses to go until I threaten her with the cat.  She hates the cat sliding up against her so I tell her she had better hurry up and go because, "Here comes the kitty".  Immediately she runs forward and does her business!
